Lowry homes are built on land that formerly housed the Lowry Air Force Base. The base was closed in 1994 after over half a century of service. In 1997, after extensive surveying, grants and zoning modifications, construction began on the first homes of the community. In 1998, Lowry’s first homeowners moved into their new neighborhood.
From an air force base to Denver’s newest community, Lowry has made some major jumps. As an infill project, it has taken almost 800 acres of unused land and transformed it into a viable, sustainable neighborhood.
Lowry Amenities
Lowry homes are located only 15 minutes away from downtown Denver, making them an excellent option for people working in that location. This is the closest collection of new homes near the downtown core; most new Denver home developments lie 45-60 minutes away. Additionally, Lowry is only 10 minutes from the Cherry Creek shopping district and 25 minutes from Denver International Airport.
Lowry’s boundaries are Quebec Street on the west, Eleventh Avenue on the north, Dayton Street on the east, and Alameda Avenue on the south.
New homes aren’t the only attraction in this popular neighborhood. The Lowry Town Center houses a variety of shops, dining options and services that can supply daily needs or provide a pleasant outing. For recreation, there are a number of parks and recreation facilities. Pathways are in the process of being built and will eventually wind throughout Lowry and connect with the regional trail system. More open space and parks are planned.
